Doug, Kentucky law actually allows for a medical exception for doctor excused use of a seatbelt. It requires that a doctor or chiropractor furnish a statement of the medical or physical reasons why a person cannot wear a seatbelt. This statement should be in the person's possession at all times while using their vehicle without a seatbelt.

In light of this exception, I don't believe a failure to wear a seatbelt for medical or physical reasons, properly excused by a doctor or chiropractor would have any effect on an "accident investigation" as you ask.

I hope this answers your question.

If a Dr. in KY gives a person a statement saying they do not have to wear a seatbelt, is this a legal document overriding KY Law on wearing a seat belt and additionally, how would it impact on the results of an Accident investigation?

Thank You
